XIX Commonwealth Forestry Conference

The Forest Research Institute (FRI), a premier institute on forestry research and education under the Indian Council of Forestry Research and Education (ICFRE), Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change (MoEF&CC), Government of India and the Commonwealth Forestry Association (CFA) is organizing the XIX Commonwealth Forestry Conference under the themeForests for Prosperity and Posterity” at Dehradun from 3rd to 7th April, 2017. 

The Conference will provide a platform for forestry professionals, academicians and all those interested in and associated with the forestry sector in the Commonwealth to gather and share their experiences with a view to learn and develop a vision for the future that will involve inclusive and sustainable growth and development.  The Conference aims to:-

  • Serve as a key forum for all those concerned with the forestry sector to share their experience and expertise and pave the way for effective translation of forestry research into actions for its sustainability.
  • Provide a platform to encourage and strengthen forestry research and development for the benefit of the people and industry that depend on forests and related sectors for their economic and social well being.
  • Identify and address critical issues in the management of forests for the sustenance of rural, tribal and indigenous communities.
  • To provide a stage for all stakeholders to collaborate over the better management of forests and ensure food, water and energy security, thereby contributing to the global Sustainable Development Goals.

The Conference Scientific Committee welcomes submission of abstracts from scientists, forestry professionals, students, researchers and academicians.  Abstracts must be submitted electronically by September 30, 2016 on the conference website- www.cfc2017.in.  Submitted abstracts should address one or more of the following session themes:-

  • Biodiversity conservation and management
  • Livelihood and economic security from forests
  • Diversification, multiple use and sustainable harvest
  • Good governance in forestry
  • Forests and climate change
  • Forest and water
